Jansen Chevrolet Donates to OCYA
In early March Mike Jansen, owner of Jansen Chevrolet of Germantown, reached out to Gary Streuter, of Streuter Auto Sales and Service, to make contact with Okawville Community Youth Association. Jansen Chevrolet selected the OCYA to receive the Chevy Youth Baseball/Softball sponsorship.
Ryan Welch, President of the OCYA, met with Mike Jansen and was able to select items for the park from an online catalog. Welch was able to get two“L” Screens, two sets of catchers gear, ball buckets, scorebooks, umpire kits, and pitch counters. The items were valued at nearly $2,000.
On April 9, Craig Kuhl of Jansen Chevrolet hauled all of the gear to the OCYA park in a new Chevy Silverado truck where he as greeted by 40-plus t-ball players to accept the gear and take pictures. Kuhl also presented the OCYA with a check for $500.
The OCYA would like to thank Jansen Chevrolet for their generosity. The gear and money will be taken advantage of by many area youth for years to come.
Children participating in OCYA baseball/softball this year also have the opportunity to attend a Chevy Youth Baseball clinic in Sauget, IL at the Gateway Grizzlies ballpark on Thursday, May 9. The clinic is free to OCYA youth.
