Construction Begins on I-64 in Clinton County

Commuters who use Interstate 64 will face lane restrictions in Clinton County in the coming weeks.

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced lane restrictions in both directions between Exit 27 and Exit 34 beginning this week.

Lane closures can be expected between the hours of 6 p.m. and 9 a.m. on weekdays and all day on Saturdays and Sundays to allow for pavement repairs.

One lane will remain open at all times while repair work is done, but delays should be expected and the use of alternate routes could be beneficial.

The project, which is contracted to Keeley and Sons, Inc., of East St. Louis, is anticipated to be complete in early July.

Drivers are reminded to follow construction signs and use caution when driving through work zones.
