Okawville Junior High students received an introduction to the criminal justice system last week when they took part in a mock court event at the Washington County Judicial Center.
The event was held in Judge Dan Emge’s courtroom in the hopes of showing students what happens in a jury trial.
“A lot of times kids have no idea how jury trials work, and we thought this would be a good way to introduce them to it,” Emge said.
Following the trial, students toured the judicial center and the old courthouse building.
