Bernice H. Janowski
Bernice Helen Janowski, 86, of Scheller, IL, passed away at 4:35 A.M., Monday, April 1, 2019 at the SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, IL.
Bernice had been a homemaker and had worked at McGraw Hill Book Publishing Company for thirteen and a half years. She was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church in Du Bois. Bernice was a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary 4476, St. Theresa Altar Sodality, and Catholic Daughters. She enjoyed quilting, embroidery and yard work with her flowers. Bernice also enjoyed bingo and gambling. In her younger days, she liked to go fishing and camping.
She was born February 8, 1933 at Jefferson County, IL, the daughter of Jerome Frank and Helen Clara (Restoff) Borowiak.
She married Leonard Janowski on December 1, 1956 at the St. Charles Catholic Church in Du Bois and he survives.
She is survived by her husband of Scheller; one daughter, Cheryl Bogucki and husband Gene of Ballwin, MO; one son, Randall Janowski and wife Cynthia of Venedy, IL; one brother-in-law, Larry Drobick of Chicago; four grandchildren, Shelli Saucier and husband Kyle, Brian Bogucki and wife Alicja, Daniel Janowski and wife Danielle, and Tiffany Lehman and husband Chris; five great grandchildren, Elizabeth Lehman, Abigail Lehman, Paul Janowski, Mason Saucier, and Annabella Saucier; and two nieces, Kim Schroeder and Stacy Dahle.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, LaVerne Drobick.
Memorial Mass will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, April 6, 2019 at the St. Charles Catholic Church in Du Bois with Fr. Oliver Nwachukwu officiating.
Friends may call from 8 A.M. until the time of service on Saturday at the church.
Burial will be in the St. Charles Cemetery at Du Bois.
Friends may make memorials to the St. Charles Catholic Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
