James H. Wienstroer
Mr. James Wienstroer of Venedy, IL departed this life in the emergency room of the Washington County Hospital in Nashville, IL on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at 3:36 P.M. He had attained the age of 81 years, 9 months and 19 days.
James was born in Belleville, IL on May 7, 1937 the son of Harry and Alberta (nee Sommer) Wienstroer. He was united in marriage to Marie Doepke in the St. Peter United Church of Christ at Stone Church, IL on November 9, 1963 and she preceded him in death on May 1, 2008.
Mr. Wienstroer was a life-long farmer and worked at Washington County FS in Venedy and later worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation in Nashville for 27 years until his retirement in 1997. He served in the United States Air Force Reserves and was a member of American Legion Post 683 in St. Libory, as well as the Southern Illinois Moose Lodge 101. Jim was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at the clubhouse. He was a member of the Elkhorn Hunting and Fishing Club, Venedy Sportman’s Club and the Southside River Club and North Side Sportsman’s Club both in St. Libory. Jim was a huge sports fan and loved going to St. Louis Cardinals baseball games and tailgating and attending St. Louis Rams football games. He also enjoyed bowling, golfing and going out to eat at all the local restaurants and taverns.
Left to mourn his passing are his two children, Mary Ann Klein and husband Charles Sr. of Stone Church, and Paul Wienstroer and wife Cindy Barczewski of Nashville, IL; a granddaughter, Jessica Wisneski and husband Brandon of Oakdale, IL; two step grandchildren, Charles Klein Jr of New Athens, IL and Amber Dimatteo and husband Brad of Medina, OH; four step great grandchildren, Lauren and Brynn Klein and Layla and MaKenzie Dimatteo; two sisters, Janet Bleisch and husband Ron of O’Fallon, IL and Carol Clark and husband Larry of Nashville; a brother, Arthur Wienstroer and wife Marilyn of Oakdale; numerous nieces and nephews as well as a host of friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Ruth Doepke.
Funeral services will be held from the St. Peter United Church of Christ in Stone Church on Friday, March 1, 2019 at 10 A.M. with Pastor Cherie Stolze officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery with military graveside rites accorded by American Legion Post 683 of St. Libory.
Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Okawville on Thursday from 4 P.M. until 7 P.M. and then at the church on Friday from 9 A.M. until the service hour.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Peter United Church of Christ, Stone Church and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
