Mildred G. Smith

Mildred G. Smith, 93, of St. Peters, Mo., died Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at 10:25 a.m., at her residence.

She was born January 12, 1926 in Addieville, the daughter of Louis Bernard and Minnie Christina (Spinner) Sommer. Mildred was 1945 Graduate of Coffeen High School in Coffeen. She married Perry Joel Smith on May 22, 1948 at St. Liborious Catholic Church in St. Louis, , and he preceded in death on September 24, 1994.

Mildred had worked for Veterans Administration in Washington D.C.; for a Steelcoat Paint Company in St. Louis, and she retired in 1988 from Centerre Trust Company (now known as Bank of America) in St. Louis. She was a member of the Ladies Guild at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Mildred loved to travel and visited 17 different countries, Germany was her favorite. Genealogy was a passion of hers. She was a member of Ancestry.com.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mildred was preceded in death by children Gena Ruth Smith in 1959 at age three and Janice Kay Kennah Smith on January 20, 2018, as well as a sister, Kathleen Carlock on September 25, 2018.

Left to mourn her passing is her son, Mark Kent Smith of Lambertville, Mich., as well as ten grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Visitation was held Saturday, February 23, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Toberman Dean Funeral Home, Coffeen.

Funeral service was Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Toberman Dean Funeral Home, Coffeen with Father Robert Porter of Litchfield officiating. Interment was in St. John’s Cemetery in Coffeen.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. John’s Cemetery in Coffeen or a charity of the donor’s choice.
