Mrs. Mary A. Hejlik of Nashville, IL departed this life at Memorial Hospital in Shiloh, IL on Monday, February 18, 2019 at 8:45 PM. She had attained the age of 75 years, 6 months and 27 days.
Mary was born on July 22, 1943 in Kossuth County, Wesley, Iowa, the daughter of Hubert and Sylvia (Thilges) O’Brien. She attended St. Joseph Catholic Grade School at St. Joe, Iowa and Bishop Garrigan High School at Algona, Iowa graduating in 1961. She then attended Personnel Institute at Omaha, Nebraska. Upon completion she was employed as secretary/accounting by Weindenhoff Corp in Algona, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Ronald Hejlik on August 7, 1965 at St. Joseph Catholic Church at St. Joe, Iowa and he survives her passing
Mary had the most important position of mother and homemaker. She always did volunteer work in the Catholic Church, teaching CCD classes wherever they lived and did volunteer work in various schools attended by her children. She loved to sew, go shopping and family events.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Sharon Lemkee; and four brothers-in-law, Arnold Hejlik, Gene Lemkee, Ron White and Dennis Batty.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Craig (Beth) Hejlik, Denise (Ken) Irvin, Todd Hejlik (Bryan Buck) and Jeff (Jenni) Hejlik; five grandchildren, Emma Hejlik, Katelyn Irvin, Elise, Bradley and Natalie Hejlik; a step grandchild, Derek Irvin; step great-grandchild, Lucas Irvin; two siblings, Pat (Alan) Becker and Sandy White; three sisters-in-law, Kay (Donald) Kopacek, Mari Batty and Betty Hejlik; two brothers-in-law, Jerry Hejlik and Darryl (Xeimi) Hejlik; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the St. Ann Catholic Church in Nashville, IL on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 10 AM with Fr. Andy Knopik officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Campagna Funeral Home in Nashville, IL on Thursday from 5 PM until 7 PM and on Friday from 7:30 AM until 9:30 AM.
Should friends desire, mass offerings or memorials may be made to the St. Ann School and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
