Nashville Woman Joins Husband In Tractor Pulling Competition

Karen Bartling competes – and places – in the male-dominated tractor pulls. Since it is a contest of determination, tractor power and weight placement, Bartling can compete on a level playing field. The rural Nashville woman is usually the only woman in her pulling class.
Bartling placed second over-all in the Gordyville Midwest Winter Nationals pull in Gifford, Illinois in January. Competitors came from 18 states. She placed first in a pull in Wyoming, Illinois this past year.
Bartling said that she likes tractor pulling for the adrenaline rush. “I like the thrill of it,” she said.
