Washington County Bragging Rights Game
By Jon Kraus
Last Tuesday night the Rockets returned home to take on the number 1 team in the state in the 2A Nashville Hornets.
The Rockets would come out ready to play on both ends and grab the early 16-9 lead after one quarter.
The offense slowed down in the second quarter for the Rockets as Nashville turned up the defense allowing the Rockets only two points, but the Rockets still led 18-17 at half.
Both teams battled back and forth in the third quarter, and the Hornets grabbed their first lead 29-28 heading to the final quarter.
The game was tied with about four minutes left to play when Nashville got hot from three and the Rockets went cold. Nashville would close the game with a nice run and win 44-30.
The Rockets battled the very good Hornets team for four quarters and the final score is misleading, as the game was a one- or two-possession game throughout.
Lane Schilling led the scoring for Okawville with 12 points. Wyatt Krohne scored six points, Will Aubel and Jackson Heckert each had four, and Jacksen Harre and Lucas Frederking finished with two apiece.
