New Doctor Seeing Patients at WCH

A new doctor is set to begin seeing patients at Washington County Hospital in February.
Ronald A. Weiss, MD (Cardiology), FACC, board-certified in Internal Medicine (Subspecialty cardiovascular disease) and a fellowship-trained interventional cardiologist, will begin seeing patients in the SSM Health Medical Group Cardiology Clinic at Washington County Hospital beginning Thursday, February 7.
Dr. Weiss’ office hours will be 9 a.m. noon every first and third Thursday monthly.
Dr. Weiss will provide trusted heart and vascular specialty care to local residents, according to Rajiv Patel, MD, President, SSM Health Medical Group in Southern Illinois.
“Our desire is to meet the needs of local communities and one way to do this is through outreach clinics,” says Dr. Patel. “SSM Health Medical Group has an established cardiology clinic at Washington County Hospital and Dr. Weiss’ presence will ensure that cardiology specialty care remains in Nashville.”
Dr. Weiss treats patients 18 and up and performs the following services:
*Outpatient evaluations of adults with coronary artery disease, chest pain, difficulty breathing, heart failure, pre-operative cardiac risk assessment, and heart rhythm irregularities
* Stress tests
* Cardioversions
* Electrocardiographic interpretations
* Diagnostic heart catheterizations
* Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI)

Dr. Weiss completed his medical school education at the University of Missouri School of Medicine, then completed residency requirements at Indiana University as well as a three-year Cardiology fellowship at Saint Louis University Hospital and a subsequent Coronary and Peripheral Vascular Interventional fellowship at the Iowa Heart Center.
