The Immanuel Lutheran/Trinity-St. John Titans were on the wrong end of a 45-37 score when they played Central City last Monday.
Despite falling behind early, the Titans rallied to make it a close game before Central City pulled away late.
Jack Kroeger led the way with 15 points for ILS/TSJ. Kendall Vallett and John Blumhorst both scored nine points, and Dillon Teter chipped in five points in the loss.
St. Mark 60, ILS/TSJ 46
Next up, the Titans competed in the All Lutheran Tournament held in Steeleville, where the fell to St. Mark-Steeleville 60-46 in the opening game.
ILS/TSJ trailed early but made a second-half run that fell short. Teter and Evan Perry both scored 11 points, Vallett went for nine, Kroeger added eight, Parker Renken chipped in four points and Lucas Wojtowicz rounded out the scoring with three.
ILS/TSJ 55, Unity 36
The Titans bounced back with a 55-36 win over Unity-East St. Louis on Saturday.
A 19-5 run by ILS/TSJ in the second quarter proved decisive. Vallett led the Titans with 13 points and Renken added 11 more. Wojtowicz scored eight points, Teter, Kroeger and Owen Dunn had six apiece, and Perry went for five in the win.
Zion 56, ILS/TSJ 44
ILS/TSJ earned a spot in the third place game, but Belleville-Zion topped the Titans 56-44.
It was a tight game through the first three quarters, but Belleville outscored the Titans 20-10 in the fourth quarter to hand them the loss.
Kroeger had 16 points to pace ILS/TSJ, and Perry also hit double figures with ten. Teter went for seven points, Dunn had six, Renken had four and Vallett tipped in one point in the loss.
