Okawville Tops Greenville in Opener

On Saturday night the Okawville Rockets opened the season with a 58-45 victory over Greenville in the first game of pool play of the Carlyle Tourney.

The Rockets started very well early in the first quarter making their first four shots of the game and grabbed a 15-10 lead after the first quarter. The Rockets were able to build a 10-point lead midway through the second quarter but the Comets would battle back to cut the lead to 24-20 at the break.

Both teams battled back and forth for most of the third quarter with the Rockets never giving up the lead. The final quarter saw the Rockets able to get to the foul line and convert 22-30 on the night to seal the game.

Four players scored in double figures for the Rockets: Lane Schilling had 16 points, Will Aubel had 14, Lucas Frederking went for 13 and Jackson Heckert scored 12. Tyler Parsley and Jacksen Harre also chipped in two and one point, respectively.

Okawville is now 1-0 on the season and in the tourney. The Rockets resumed play on Tuesday against Flora and finish pool play on Wednesday with Pinckneyville. The Rockets will play on Saturday depending on how they finish in their pool.
